WE CAN BE HEROES: a backstage pass
Over the Summer of 2020, during the chaos of the Covid-19 Pandemic, I was invited to exhibit at Newcastle Art Gallery as part of ‘WE CAN BE HEROES: a backstage pass’. The exhibition showcased the work of myself and three other Australian music photographers – Maclay Heriot, Sophie Howarth and Luke Kellett. The exhibition celebrated the connection and relationship between the photographer and their subject and presented a behind the scenes look of the intimate moments that happen on and off stage.
‘WE CAN BE HEROES’ featured shots of local musicians and international heavyweights, showcasing artists from the 70’s through to the acts of today. I exhibited a collection of works featuring The Preatures, Baker Boy, DMA’s, The Jungle Giants, The Chats, Bleeding Knees Club and Flight To Dubai.
It was awesome to exhibit at the gallery I have grown up going to in my hometown, alongside the incredible work of three photographers that I have looked up to and learnt from throughout my career.
